Those who have been playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 zombies for a long time may have noticed a teaser for a new DLC. The Easter egg, which can be seen on a new character skin for Black Ops 6, might be a reference to the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 DLC Zombies Chronicles.
From its debut in Call of Duty: World at War in 2008, Call of Duty Zombies has been a mainstay of the franchise for many years. Nevertheless, as various developers have taken over the franchise over time, its popularity has fluctuated. Innovative Call of Duty Zombies mechanics and the mode’s enduring narrative are returning, with Treyarch spearheading the development of Black Ops 6.
Call of Duty Zombies Fans Think A Weaver Skin Might Hint At Zombies Chronicles 2
Grigori Weaver is a zombie wearing a red jumpsuit that is closed and has sewn patches on it. These patches are inspired by old Call of Duty zombie maps, such as Der Eisendrache, Shangri-La, Shi No Numa, Tranzit, Kino Der Toten, Moon, The Giant, and Buried. Naturally, the patches suggest that Weaver has fought in all of those locations because they are designed to look like tourist patches that tourists wear to indicate where they have been. Additionally, a number of the maps mentioned were originally included in Zombies Chronicles, a Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Zombies map pack that allowed players to catch up on the Zombies timeline by remastering eight Zombies maps from the earlier games.
Reactions from the comments were mixed, with some players concluding that it makes sense for Treyarch to celebrate one of its most popular modes by bringing back favorite maps. Others suggested that the patches are merely an Easter egg reference to the old maps, and questioned whether Treyarch would really be willing to remake so many classic Call of Duty Zombies maps. Some veteran Zombies players pointed out that some of the maps referenced, like Shi No Numa, have already been reintroduced multiple times across several games. Treyarch bringing them back yet again as a premium DLC could rub customers the wrong way and prompt accusations of “recycling” content.
The conversation does highlight how long Zombies have been a part of the Call of Duty franchise as a whole, regardless of whether the Weaver outfit is just an Easter egg or a clue to future plans. It’s obvious that Treyarch has plans for the mode, whether they include bringing back popular content or pushing the boundaries of zombie combat.
